Another Big Win
Wolves Women 9 (Clarkson 1, Johnson 2, 36, 56, Perks 25, 78, Ledgister 32, 61, Quick 46)
Hereford Pegasus Ladies 0
Wolves Women started the New Year in style with a convincing win over Combination newcomers Hereford Pegasus.
The home side started as they meant to go on, scoring two goals in the first two minutes. The first came with a pass from Anne Johnson, picked up by Heather Clarkson, who shot straight at the Hereford keeper, who got her fingers to it, but couldn't hold on. Then a direct shot on target from Johnson eluded the keeper to make it 2-0.
Wolves continued to press, with Maria Beaney putting in some good crosses and both Johnson and Nicole Ledgister went close.
On 23 minutes Clarkson's free kick was well stopped by Jenny Shail in the Hereford goal, and just two minutes later Wolves were on the score sheet again as Amber Quick's cross was headed home by Anna Perks.
Ledgister's persistence up front finally paid off in the 32nd minute as she battled her way through the Hereford defence and just managed to push the ball over the goal line. Then, on 36 minutes, Johnson scored an excellent individual goal, shooting from a good 20 yards out to bring the home side's tally up to 5.

Wolves started the second half as they had the first, with Ledgister rounding the keeper and crossing the ball to Quick, who slotted it into the back of the net in the first minute of the half.
Substitute Hannah Woodford came close just three minutes later but her shot on target was well saved by the Hereford keeper.
Wolves continued to rein shots in, with Johnson and Beaney both hitting the post and Clarkson forcing another good save.
On 56 minutes Johnson got her hat-trick, rounding the keeper to slot the ball home and make it 7-0 to the home side. Then Ledgister scored her second in the 61st minute.
Hereford never gave up the fight, and their determination forced Wolves' keeper Becky Thomas into action in the closing stages of the game. She made two excellent saves from direct shots on target before Wolves again put on the pressure at the other end and Perks scored her second with a stunning shot from 30 yards out in the 78th minute.
Hereford's final attack forced another save from Wolves' keeper Thomas at point blank range, but she held firm to keep a clean sheet.
Manager Dave Ball said: "Today's was a really pleasing result, with goals coming from several players.
"Goalkeeper Becky Thomas also did well to make some excellent saves after having little to do for much of the game."
Next week Wolves Women travel to Alfreton Town Ladies in Derbyshire.
