Hereford Pegasus 0 Wolves Women 6 (Ledgister 46, 64, Clarkson 61, 65 86, Beaney 78)

After losing their opening game of the season, Wolves Women reversed their fortunes on Sunday with a convincing 6-0 win away at Hereford Pegasus.

In a proverbial game of two halves Wolves saved all of their goals until after the break. Hereford held firm for much of the first half, but Wolves' pressure started to show in the last 10 minutes, with several chances going close.

The visitors wasted no effort making up for lost time in the second half as striker Nicole Ledgister netted on 46 minutes, which seemed to spur Wolves on in their advances. Heather Clarkson scored directly from a free-kick on 61 minutes, before Ledgister netted her second just three minutes later, closely followed by a second for Clarkson.

With Wolves having much of the play, substitute Maria Beaney scored on 78 minutes before Clarkson rounded off her hat-trick four minutes before the end.

Manager Dave Ball said: "It's great to get a win under our belts after the disappointment of last week. Scoring plenty of goals has definitely boosted the confidence in the team before our first home game of the season.

"Several people have told me that they've been watching women's football for the first time with the Women's World Cup being shown on BBC2. Let's hope it encourages some Wolves fans to come and support us this week."

Wolves Women's first home game of the season is tomorrow as they play host to Alfreton Town. The game will be held at Goodrich Sports Stadium, Stafford Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, with a 2.30pm kick-off. Admission is just £2 for adults, £1 concessions.
