Wolves 2 (Rosa 28, Hughes 49)

Huddersfield Town 2 (Beckett 11, Malcher 82)

After recovering from a slow start during which they went a goal down, Wolves reserves gained the upper hand against Huddersfield Town and looked to be on course for a well deserved victory until Luke Malcher earned a point for the visitors with a late strike.

Town keeper Alex Smithies had to cut out a low cross from Ashley Hemmings inside the first minute.

But the visitors soon began to get on top and after a series of chances they moved into an 11th minute lead.

Danny Racchi shot over from 20-yards before Danny Schofield headed against the inside of the post with Michael Wardle scooping the ball away to safety.

Schofield broke through again a few seconds later and forced a fine save from Billy Lumley but the pressure told in the 11th minute when Luke Bennett forced the ball over the line from close in after Lucas Akins had hit a low cross into the goalmouth.

Akins almost doubled Town's lead four minutes later when he drove no more than a foot wide from the edge of the area.

Wolves slowly began to work their way back into the game and Smithies just beat Kyle Bennett to Denes Rosa's lofted through ball.

Liam Hughes held off a challenge from Tom Jackson before shooting over the near angle before Rosa equalised with a classy finish.

Smithies blocked a Hughes shot and when the ball bounced out to Rosa, just outside the area, he hit an inch perfect lob that dropped just underneath the bar and over the head of a defender who had ran back and was stationed on the line.

Mark Salmon drove narrowly wide of the far post and, at the other end, Racchi was just as close with a first time shot from just outside the box.

Rosa, with some fine control of the ball, set up Hughes on the overlap but the striker's driven cross carried too much pace for the inrushing Hemmings who, at full stretch, could only divert the ball wide of the far post.

Half-Time: Wolves 1 Huddersfield 1

Smithies was soon called into action after the restart, the keeper spreading himself to block a piledriver from Hemmings.

But he was beaten in the 49th minute when Hughes finished confidently after he had taken Alex Melbourne's superb through ball.

Wolves were now well on top and Smithies performed heroics again when he somehow kept out a rising drive from Hemmings.

But it wasn't all one-way traffic and Lumley made a brave save from Akins who found himself clean through on goal.

Rosa almost grabbed a spectacular third for Wolves with a falling volley as he made a perfect connection with Melbourne's cross. Unfortunately for the midfielder, his shot struck a defender and bounced clear.

Bennett's pass put Melbourne through on goal but Smithies was in position to save and he rescued his side yet again when he denied Rosa who then fired the rebound just wide.

The overworked keeper then pushed out an angled shot from Bennett before, completely against the run of play, Huddersfield drew level through the unmarked Malcher who slotted the ball past Lumley.

After the game, Mark Salmon was presented with the Supporters Reserve Player of the Year trophy by Mick Harper, who organised the award, and manager Mick McCarthy (pictured).
