A Fine Comeback
West Bromwich 3 (Slursarski 6, Bednar 9, MacDonald 24)
Wolves 3 (Hughes 27, Davies 62, Rosa 87)
Three down against West Bromwich after just 24 minutes, Wolves fought back to take a share of the spoils from an entertaining Black Country reserves derby at The Hawthorns
Lee Collins headed clear an early Sherjill MacDonald cross and Freddy Eastwood's attempted centre following Matt Jarvis' short corner was blocked. Then Wolves were hit by two Albion goals in a three minute spell.
Just six minutes had gone when Bartosz Slusarski beat the offside trap and went on an unopposed run to the box before he slotted the ball past Billy Lumley.
Jarvis had the beating of Pele in a race down the left wing as Wolves looked for a reply. The winger cut inside and unleashed a powerful shot that Luke Steele held at the second attempt.
But Albion went straight to the other end to score again with the visitors' offside trap once again being breached as Roman Bednar raced onto Craig Beattie's through ball before driving a low shot into the net.
In the 23rd minute Eastwood was dispossessed after taking a Denes Rosa cross and trying to work a shooting position for himself
And, once again, Albion rubbed salt in the wounds by immediately responding with a goal after beating the offside trap for a third time with MacDonald the man making no mistake in beating the unprotected Lumley.
With little more than a quarter of the game gone, Wolves were three down which was far from a fair reflection of play although the defence was finding the pace of the Albion front men a tall order to deal with.
Martin Riley almost pulled one back following a Jarvis corner but his header was cleared off the line by Tininho before Wolves finally broke through in the 27th minute.
Riley again got his head to a corner - this time from Darren Potter - and Liam Hughes forced the ball over the line in the scramble that followed.
Eastwood was high and wide with a shot on the run but the striker forced an excellent save from Steele who got his fingertips to a ferocious 25-yard shot that was arrowing towards the top corner shortly before the break.
Half-Time: Albion 3 Wolves 1
Seconds after the restart a deflected shot from Pele beat Lumley but the linesman's flag was raised for offside. And five minutes into the half Mark Davies came on for Eastwood.
Seconds later Mark Little raced along the right and delivered a cross that Jared Hodgkiss smashed against the inside of his own post in attempting to clear.
Steele had to race yards from his area to clear as Davies homed in but the substitute wasn't to be denied as he reduced the deficit to just one in the 62nd minute.
Jarvis jinked his way into the Albion box and pulled the ball back to Hughes. His shot was blocked but the rebound fell to Davies who fired home from 12-yards.
Steele then rescued the Baggies when he dived full length to push out a shot from Rosa after the Hungarian had run from the halfway line to the edge of the area.
Then Rosa hit an angled shot into the side netting as Wolves continued to press for an equaliser.
Seven minutes from the end, Hughes went even closer with a shot from the 18-yard line that smacked against the angle before bouncing behind.
But the goal Wolves fully deserved arrived in 87th minute when Rosa hit his ninth of the season converting from just inside the box after Hughes had played the ball into his path.
And Rosa could have grabbed an injury time winner as he burst through the middle only to be pulled back by Shelton Martis. Incredibly the referee, who was only a few yards away, waved play on.
