Denes At The Double
Huddersfield Town 0
Wolves 2 (Rosa 6, 24)
Denes Rosa followed up his hat trick against Oldham with both goals in Wolves reserves' 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium.
Danny Cadamarteri got in the first shot of the game from 20-yards - Graham Stack making a comfortable save - before Wolves took a sixth minute lead.
Elliott Bennett's right-wing cross was helped on by Liam Hughes and Rosa was there to power a header past Simon Eastwood in the home goal.
A foul by Frank Sinclair on Stephen Gleeson led to a Wolves free-kick just outside the Town area. The ball was touched to Charlie Mulgrew but his shot bounced off the wall to safety.
Huddersfield were close to a leveller in the 17th minute when Daniel Racchi's corner was headed inches over the bar by Sinclair.
Hughes went into the book after a late challenge on Tom Jackson as the pair chased a ball in the Huddersfield box before Rosa struck again to double Wanderers' lead in the 24th minute.
He ran onto Gleeson's through pass and flicked the ball over Eastwood. The keeper got a touch but he couldn't keep out the Hungarian's effort.
Cadamarteri threatened again with a rising drive that flew narrowly over and moments later he fired wide after Stack had raced from his line to narrow the angle.
But with the industrious Gleeson and Mark Salmon enjoying fine games in midfield, Wolves continued to look the better side.
Bennett tested Eastwood with a shot from the edge of the area and the corner conceded, taken by the young midfielder, ran dangerously through the six-yard box before being cleared.
Just before the break Hughes almost made it three with a header from Mulgrew's centre that went narrowly over the bar.
Half-Time: Town 0 Wolves 2
Within a minute of the restart David Ijaha was denied by Eastwood who was at full stretch to keep out a low, 20-yard drive.
Lucas Akins saw his long-range shot on the run safely gathered by Stack then the keeper smothered a snapshot from Cadamarteri.
But Racchi was close to reducing the deficit with a shot on the turn that wasn't too far wide of the far post.
The tenacious Bennett beat off the challenge of Tom Jackson and delivered a centre that deceived Eastwood but the ball fell to a defender before Hughes could strike.
Akins, with a stooping header after a Cadamateri cross, was only just off the mark before Wolves made two substitutions with Ashley Hemmings coming on for Hughes before Martin Riley replaced Rob Edwards who had enjoyed a good work out following his come back from injury.
