Memorable Night For Mark
Mark Davies made his full League debut as Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw with Derby County last night.
The 17-year-old midfielder was named in the starting 11 after making an impressive substitute appearance at Sheffield United on Saturday. He played the full 90 minutes in front of 23,000 supporters at Molineux yesterday.
"I wasn't really nervous before the game because the boys talked me through it and I have had a taste of it before," said Mark. "I started the games against Chester and Watford in the Carling Cup, and I've also come on as a sub a few times this year, so it wasn't such a big thing nerves wise.
"I didn't think the chance to be named in the team would come this quickly. You always hope it will happen but I honestly didn't think I'd be involved so soon this season."
Wolves took the lead in the sixth minute when Kenny Miller found the net from a Lee Naylor pass. The Rams equalised shortly after the interval and Davies almost rounded off his full debut with a goal shortly before the end, but he couldn't quite latch onto Miller's through ball.
"I didn't think Kenny's pass would come through because a defender was in the way but the ball spun off him, taking it away from me and to the keeper," explained Mark.
"We started well and I thought we played well as a team. The result was a bit disappointing but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
"I always feel confident and if I make a mistake I try to forget about it and just get on with things. But, I know I'm still young and have stacks to learn.
"Before the game the gaffer said, be positive and be yourself, and I'd like to think that's what I did."
