Mick's Praise For Squad
Mick McCarthy has praised his players following the friendly victory over Dundee.
The boss was not only pleased with the efforts from the game at Dens Park, but also from the work put in over the past week.
He said: "They have been terrific both in the friendly games and on the training pitch as well.
"We spent most of yesterday travelling and when you don't do any real work on the day before a game, you can feel a bit lethargic.
"The pitch at Dundee was a typical pre-season one - in good condition but dry.
"Neither keeper had a lot to do and while results in friendly games aren't the be all and end all, it was nice to get the win and keep a clean sheet as well.
"We could have had a couple more but you don't want to risk pushing them too hard at this stage.
"But I'm pleased with today's performance and the way that it going overall."
Meanwhile, the boss has explained Rob Edwards' absence from the tour. He said: "Rob took a knock on the ankle in the game at Chasetown on Friday evening.
"He has only just recovered from an injury on the same joint and so we felt it best for him to remain behind and get treatment at Compton Park."
