Neill Collins today expressed his delight at putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract and insisted Wolves are a club going places.

The Scottish defender, who had two years remaining on his previous deal, is now contracted at Molineux until the summer of 2012 after becoming the latest of the club's young players to extend their stay.

And Neill, who joined Wolves permanently from Sunderland in January 2006, believes the future at Wolves is extremely bright with a squad still yet to achieve their full potential.

"Obviously I'm delighted," said the 24-year-old.

"Wolves is a club going places, there's no question about that, and hopefully I can play a real part in that.

"It's a good time to be at the club.

"We've got a good manager and with the way he is shaping the team we're not even close to our potential yet.

"We all want to be here when big things do happen and with all the strides the club have taken over the last two years I'm sure we're not too far away from that."

Neill has made 69 appearances for Wolves so far, scoring six goals, with his four last season all proving winners.

He is also looking forward to improving his own game over the coming seasons.

"I still think there's more to come from myself as well, definitely," he added.

"I don't want to rest on my laurels, I want to improve all the time just like everyone in the changing room does.

"You wouldn't be in football if you didn't want to develop your game and there's always someone trying to take your place.

"So I'll be working even harder next season just like everyone else."

And Neill has hailed the team spirit in the Molineux dressing room as the best he has ever encountered.

"I joined from Sunderland and the boys there were very good," he recalls.

"Obviously it was the same manager for the majority of the time and it was a similar situation with young players coming into the club.

"When I moved here I thought if the team spirit was as good as Sunderland we'd be doing well but it's probably even better here.

"The people throughout the club are great and while the main thing is the football these things behind the scenes all play their part.

"Wolves have maybe been a wee bit of a sleeping giant over the last few years but they are a club going places now and everyone feels it is a club taking off again."
