Michael Kightly admits he's already "buzzing" about the start of the new season.

Fresh from signing his new four-year contract, the influential winger is already looking forward to getting back in action and trying to help Wolves fulfil their Premier League ambitions.

"There's been speculation about me and other players, but I've said from Day One I am happy," says Kights.

"There were just a couple of things that needed sorting out and they have been.

"Now that's happened, I'm buzzing and I'm really excited about the new season to come.

"The prospect of myself, 'Jarvo' (Matt Jarvis) and 'Blakey' (Sylvan Ebanks-Blake) playing together for a full season is something I'm really looking forward to.

"We only played together for a couple of times at the end of the season, so it would be nice to play a full season together.

"We've got other good, young players in the squad, so if we can all perform the way we can, with a couple of additions, then we'll be there or thereabouts."

And Kights believes the fact that the Wolves squad has developed together over the last two seasons, and the experiences gained from narrowly missing out on promotion, will stand them in good stead ahead of another testing Championship campaign.

"The majority of the squad have had a couple of seasons together and it's a young squad," he added.

"Missing out on the play-off final in the first season and being one goal off making the play-offs last time will help us in the long run.

"We don't want to go up and come straight back down again.

"That extra experience will help us achieve what we need and really make a go of it."
