A crowd of around 500 people turned up at St Theodore's Church in the Welsh village of Ynysddu yesterday, to bid farewell to former Wolves goalkeeper Mark Kendall.

Mark, who won Fourth and Third Division Championship medals during his time at Molineux, as well as being in the Sherpa Van Trophy winning team 20 years ago this month, passed away on May Day aged just 49.

After he retired from the game, Mark became a policeman in his native South Wales and a guard of honour was formed along the church pathway by some of his former colleagues in the force.

With the church packed to capacity a good 40 minutes before the service began, loudspeakers relayed proceedings to the large crowd assembled outside.

Mark's Molineux team-mates, Alistair Robertson, Nigel Vaughan, Andy Thompson, Jon Purdie, Phil Robinson and Robbie Dennison all attended the funeral as did ex Wolves midfielder Barry Powell.
