The Wolves youth team return from Germany today after finishing fifth in the Stemwede International Youth Tournament.
On Friday the team played out a goalless draw with Muhlendreis. Wolves completely dominated against the local side having shots cleared off the line and hitting the woodwork but they couldn't make the breakthrough in the 25 minute each-way contest.
The following day Americal FC of Brazil, fresh from a tournament win in Switzerland, provided the opposition. Wolves fell a goal behind but drew level to earn a point through an Ashley Hemmings (pictured) volley following a well delivered corner from Kyle Bennett.
On Sunday John Perkins' side took part in two games but, unfortunately, lost out on each occasion.
They conceded two goals in the first-half against Hertha BSC and, despite an improved performance after the break, failed to reduce the deficit. Then, a goal five minutes from time saw RCD Mallorca of Spain emerge triumphant.
SV Werder Bremen beat Borussia M'Gladbach in an all German final. Wolves picked up the Fair Play award for the tournament having gone through their four games without having picked up a booking.
Speaking before the squad made their way back to Wolverhampton, John said: "The tournament has been a success for us with regards to experience although, obviously, results could have been better.
"We didn't perform as well as we should have in front of goal scoring just once in the four games we played. But, apart from the first-half against Hertha when we were below par, I felt we played some good football.
"Ours was a young side which included two schoolboys. And we lost Mark Salmon, our captain, literally three hours before we were due to depart, which was a blow, after he was called up into the Irish under 21 squad.
"But the facilities here have been brilliant and it has been an excellent tournament to have been involved with."
