Skipper Karl Henry is aiming to participate and succeed where he missed out last spring after moving close to full fitness before Wolves' crucial Molineux clash with Plymouth on Sunday.

The midfielder sat out the run-in and play-off campaign 12 months ago following a serious spleen injury suffered in the victory at Luton.

He has been sidelined again recently but was back in full training today and is expected to be in the squad for a game his side must win to stand any chance of reaching the play-offs for the second successive season.

"I'm delighted to be back in contention," Karl said. "I never thought when I picked the injury up that I would be out for this long.

"Leroy Lita fell into me in the game at Charlton at the end of March and, with us not having a match the weekend after, I didn't think I would miss any games. I was 100 per cent sure I'd be fit within a fortnight. But I had strained the ligaments in my knee and that prevented me from kicking the ball.

"Reaching the play-offs would be extra special for me because of what happened last year. That was a big disappointment, personally, and it's good news that we still have an opportunity to make it now."

Karl scored a dramatic last-minute winner at The Valley - enough to earn him Beacon Radio's Champagne Moment of the Year last night - and he added: "They say you're only as good as your last game, so I suppose that makes me pretty decent!

"We all came away from there on a real high and it would be great now to be part of such an important game. We've given ourselves a good fighting chance of reaching the play-offs and we know there will be a fabulous atmosphere, with the match a sell-out for our fans.

"I'm sure we'll sense from the crowd what is happening in the other matches that affect us but the important thing for us is to play our game and make sure we win it.

"It would be very frustrating for other results to go for us and then for us to let points slip through lack of concentration.

"There is still pressure on us but we have to carry that on our shoulders, go and perform as we know we can and hopefully make it a day for us all to remember."
