Duo Set For Reserve Return
Mick McCarthy will doubtless be delighted with the news that two players sidelined with long-term injuries are set to return in tomorrow's reserve game at Oldham (kick-off 7pm).
Michael Kightly, who has managed just two substitute appearances since picking up an ankle injury at West Bromwich at the end of November, and Stephen Ward, out with tendonitis since mid-January, are both due to play at Boundary Park.
"It's been a really frustrating time having to watch when you want to be out playing or training," said Stephen.
"But the last couple of weeks have been great because I've been outside training with the lads. There is nothing worse than having to work on your own in the gym - it can be a very lonely place.
"Now I'm feeling fit and sharp and hopefully I can take that into the game at Oldham and be ready to help with the run-in although both Michael and I have got to get our match fitness back.
"People don't need me to tell them just how important these six games are and it's vital that the gaffer has everyone available for what is going to be a really testing time - for players and supporters alike."
