With the season edging towards an exciting climax, preparations are underway for Player of the Year voting.

Season ticket holders will be balloted at the Ipswich game, with the winner being presented with the silver boot trophy after the last League match of the campaign against Plymouth.

Last year's winner Matt Murray says there are plenty of candidates for the prize. The keeper won't be in contention himself having missed the entire season with a knee injury. But he has seen enough of the action this term to know there are some strong contenders.

Matt says: "Wayne Hennessey has got to be up there. He's had a meteoric rise in his first full season, but I always knew he would. He's pulled of some vital saves for us and done well at international level as well.

"We've kept a lot of clean sheets this season and a lot of that is down to Wayne - but also the defenders who have been solid.

"There's been a few changes at the back but the lads have done well. Neill Collins has filled in different positions and weighed in with goals too.

"Obviously Michael Kightly would have been up there if he hadn't got injured. He was flying and really grabbing everyone's attention before he did his ankle at West Brom.

"There's been a similar situation, but in reverse for Matt Jarvis, who missed a big chunk at the start of the season with injury. I know fans I've spoken to have been impressed with him since he got back to full fitness.

"There's also the unsung heroes of the midfield like Seyi Olofinjana and Karl Henry. They have played a lot of games and been steady.

"Up front Andy Keogh is hitting form at the right time. He's a really hard worker but now he's getting the goals as well. And what about Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. He's not been here that long but what a signing!

"If that second goal at Charlton had been scored by a player from one of the top Premiership clubs, it would have been showed over and over on Sky.

"All in all it's been a great squad effort this season and there's still plenty of twists and turns to go yet. So the fans will have a lot to think about before they make their choice."

Voting slips can be found inside season ticket books and there will be collection boxes on the concourse at the Ipswich match on April 19.
