Boss Backs Kyle To Be 'Handful'
Mick McCarthy has paid tribute to Kevin Kyle and backed him to become a real 'impact' player for Wolves.
The boss admits he was frustrated with the reception his loan signing received when he arrived from Coventry in the transfer window.
The striker had been the subject of criticism from some sections of the Sky Blues fans and McCarthy believes this clouded his arrival at Molineux.
However, the Scot's superb goal at Crystal Palace drew praise from the fans who were then chanting his name at Colchester on Saturday.
The Wolves manager says: "I'll tell you why there were a few murmurings about Kevin Kyle when he came in.
"It's because some people go on messageboards, read what Coventry fans have said about him and then pass it on.
"I know it happens. I never look myself and I have no intention of doing so but I get told.
"It's almost like he came here with negative equity and had to start from a minus which is incredible.
"It's great on Saturday that fans were shouting Kyle's name but two games ago at Cardiff he was getting it in the earhole.
"It just frustrates me that he arrived here with a bit of baggage and with people suspicious of him.
"I just think, give him a chance to get going and he will do well for us.
"He hadn't played for a while and had been suspended but I was delighted to get him and I think he's made an impact for us.
"I knew the character of Kevin because he overcame a real debilitating hip injury to get back to fitness and playing and it took him a long time.
"Kevin's an asset because he gives us that target and physical presence we hadn't had which can be a handful for any team.
"I looked at Dele (Adebola) as well and he's turned out to be a really shrewd signing for Bristol City.
"It's all about the impact a player can have coming into the team, and the unfortunate thing we're all guilty of is wanting everyone to be able to do everything.
"It's a case of accepting players for what they are and what they are good at rather than berating them for what they're not."
