Plenty of goals but it's Stoke who go away with the three points.

Wolves got off to a disastrous start when a Rob Edwards back-pass fell short. Mamady Sidibe hooked the ball back across the face of goal, leaving Rory Delap to head his side into the lead with just four minutes on the clock.

The visitors came close to going even further ahead on 15 minutes when Leon Cort got on the end of Liam Lawrence's corner. His header went just inches high.

Two minutes later a goalmouth scramble presented Andy Keogh with an opportunity on the edge of the area but his shot went wide.

A speculative effort by Glenn Whelan went just over Wayne Hennessey's bar on 20 minutes. Then Wolves had a golden chance to equalise. Keogh crossed inside the box to Kevin Kyle but he mistimed his approach and Stoke recovered to clear the danger.

With six minutes left of the half, Michael Gray played a good ball in to Kyle, who headed down for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, but the former Plymouth striker could not connect.

Only seconds remained on the clock when R Edwards atoned for his earlier mistake but volleying home an equaliser from six yards out.

Half-Time Wolves 1 Stoke 1

If Wolves got off to a bad start in the fist half, it could not have been more different in the opening minutes of the second period.

A Kevin Foley free-kick was flicked on by Kyle and thumped home by Keogh.

However, the lead was short-lived as Lawrence caught Wolves on the break, made a surging run and finished well to restore the balance.

Wolves cranked up the pressure and appealed for a penalty on 56 minutes, Keogh claiming handball.

Wolves were dominating possession and Stoke were trying to catch them out on the break.

The visitors re-took the lead on 74 minutes. Wayne Hennessey made a great reaction save to parry a Sidibe header but Cort was there to tap home the loose ball.

Keogh was replaced by Freddy Eastwood on with ten minutes to go.

Wolves were appealing for a penalty in injury time, for a foul from Salif Diao on R Edwards, as substitute Ricardo Fuller broke away and got Stoke's fourth.
