Wolves 1 (Gobern 81)

Leicester City 2 (Hammond 38, Porter 90)

LC  There was little Christmas cheer in the air for the home supporters at Molineux as Wolves slipped to a painful last minute defeat against struggling Leicester City.

One down at the break, Mick McCarthy's men looked to have rescued a point when Lewis Gobern scored for the second consecutive home game shortly before the end. But Levi Porter's late strike won it for the Foxes.

Gobern had recovered from the bug that ruled him out of the game at Southend and he returned in place of Michael Kightly as the only change to the starting line-up.

Wolves kicked-off attacking the South Bank end and, in an early attack, City keeper Paul Henderson plucked a Seyi George Olofinjana cross out of the air with Jay Bothroyd waiting for any slip at the far post.

Leicester's first attack of note saw Alan Maybury hitting a short cross into the side netting before Jemal Johnson won the first corner of the game off Gareth McAuley. But Gary Breen was penalised for pushing as he went for Gobern's flag-kick.

With 13 minutes gone Breen got in a timely intervention deflecting away a cross from Elvis Hammond that looked destined for the head of Porter.

Bothroyd headed wide from a Gobern cross and Jody Craddock's shot was blocked after Michael McIndoe's corner had been helped on by Bothroyd.

There had been little to entertain the crowd before the visiting fans finally had something to shout about, in the 38th minute, as City took the lead with the first on target shot from either side.

Elvis Hammond ran onto a pass from Iain Hume and held off a challenge from LCBreen before he rifled an angled shot past Matt Murray into the opposite corner of the net.

Olofinjana headed straight into Henderson's arms following a cross from Jamie Clapham and the City keeper then punched clear a free-kick from Gobern as Wolves looked to hit back.

In stoppage time a McIndoe corner was booted clear and, in a rare moment of quality, Gobern clipped the top of the angle with a dipping shot from 25-yards.

Half-Time: Wolves 0 Leicester 1

Craig Davies replaced Johnson at the start of the second-half which was just over a minute old when McIndoe won a corner on the left.

The winger's kick was cleared but then Bothroyd, after some good work on the wing, delivered a cross that was just too far in front of Davies.

Danny Tiatto went into the book for a late challenge on McIndoe and then Clapham fired over from 25-yards as Wolves began to gain the upper hand.

Henry shot into the keeper's arms from a similar distance and Olofinjana needed treatment after he had fallen in the Leicester box after a LCchallenge from Richard Stearman.

Karl Henry was shown the yellow card after a tackle on Hammond and, after Bothroyd fired wide when under pressure following a short pass from Davies, Hammond went into the book for dissent.

With nine minutes left Wolves drew level. McIndoe's corner dropped to the feet of Gobern on the edge of the box and the youngster's right foot volley bounced before it hit the post and went in.

But, with most home supporters coming to terms with what looked to be another home one-all draw, Porter cut in from the left and beat Mark Little before hitting a low shot that Murray got a hand to but couldn't keep out.
