Wolves 1 (Gobern 63)

Crystal Palace 1 (Freedman 84)

CP  For the second time in five days Wolves conceded a late equaliser at Molineux after again dominating the proceedings for much of the game.

Former Wanderers striker Dougie Freedman did the damage cancelling out Lewis Gobern's first goal for the club.

There was just one change to the home starting line-up with Leon Clarke coming in for Jay Bothroyd. New signing Michael McIndoe was named as a substitute.

Palace kicked-off attacking the North Bank end and with a minute gone visiting skipper Michael Hughes got in the first shot of the game - a swerving effort from 25-yards that was comfortably gathered by Matt Murray.

Jemal Johnson saw his well struck shot from outside the area blocked, and two dangerous crosses from Daniel Jones drifted across the Palace box with no-one able to get a head to the ball in each case.

Clarke then helped on a Johnson centre but Gobern couldn't quite reach the ball before it ran out of play.

A quick throw out by Murray fell to Jones who sprinted three-quarters of the length of the pitch, jinking past opponents on the way, before shooting a hair's breadth wide of the far post.

In the 21st minute Wolves were close again following a Jones corner. Seyi George Olofinjana powered a header towards goal but Hughes, on the line, CPmanaged to divert the ball away for a corner.

Hughes fouled Mark Little 25-yards out to the right of the Palace goal but Gobern's free-kick was headed clear by Darren Ward.

Murray coolly collected a long-range effort from Danny Granville and the Jobi McAnuff beat Little on the left but Gary Breen came to the rescue cutting out the low cross that followed.

Just before the break Ward headed behind a cross from Johnson but Gobern's corner came to nothing.

Half-Time: Wolves 0 Palace 0

The visitors made a switch during the interval sending on Carl Fletcher for Hughes.

CP A teasing floated cross from Gobern was headed into Iain Turner's arms by Jones who had two defenders in close contact as he went for goal.

Then Breen's headed clearance fell to Olofinjana who prodded a pass to Jones wide on the left. The youngster's low centre was flicked goalwards by Johnson but Turner managed to smother the ball.

Although clear cut chances had been few and far between, Wolves had enjoyed most of the attacking play and they moved into a fully deserved lead in the 63rd minute.

Mark Hudson fouled Clarke to the left of the Palace area and Gobern's free-kick deceived Turner, who was watching the inrushing Clarke, and the ball curled into the net.

Murray punched away a dangerous cross from Clinton Morrison and Johnson was too high with an angled shot went Wolves went forward.

A series of substitutions followed with Craig Davies and McIndoe replacing Johnson and Jones for Wolves, and Freedman and Shefki Kuqi coming on for the Londoners in place of Morrison and James Scowcroft.

After Hudson had been booked for a foul on Davies, McIndoe was a fraction away from marking his debut with a goal. He ran in from the left and CPcleverly beat Tom Soares before hitting a cross-shot wide of the far post from the narrowest of angles.

Freedman had a chance to level matters when he beat Jamie Clapham as he ran into the home area. With just Murray to beat the Scot fired over the bar but he made no mistake in the 84th minute hitting a left foot volley into the net after Kuqi had headed the ball on to him.

With time running out another former Wolves man, Mark Kennedy, shot over the bar but in the end both sides had to be satisfied with a point each.
