Crystal Palace 2 (Hudson 12, McAnuff 37)

Wolves 2 (Bothroyd 13, 22)

CPWolves secured a precious point in the chase for the play-offs thanks to a brace from the in-form Jay Bothroyd at Crystal Palace.

But the visitors had to battle hard to restrict The Eagles' attacking options in the second-half following the dismissal of defender Mark Little for two bookable offences shortly before the break.

Wolves kicked-off attacking the Sainsbury's end of Selhurst Park and Bothroyd got in an early shot that was high and wide of Gabor Kiraly's goal.

Jobi McAnuff wasn't far away with a snapshot from the edge of the box and Andy Keogh shot wide of the far post after Bothroyd had nodded a long clearance into his path.

After 12 minutes Jackie McNamara's foul on Tom Soares to the right of the Wolves area led to the game's opening goal. Ben Watson fired over the free-kick and Mark Hudson ran in to head past Jan Budtz.

But, within a minute, Wolves were level as Bothroyd looped a header over Kiraly following Michael McIndoe's pinpoint centre from the left.

Kiraly dived to save from Seyi Olofinjana after a pass from Bothroyd who, as the half reached its midway point, shot Wanderers into the lead.

Keogh slipped the ball through to Bothroyd who sidestepped Hudson before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Palace's Hungarian keeper.

Michael Kightly almost claimed a third when he beat three defenders on a run along the 18-yard before hitting a shot that forced a diving CPsave from Kiraly.

Moments later Kightly used his pace once again, this time shrugging off two challenges before shooting over from just outside the area.

With 30 minutes gone, Shefki Kuqi clearly shoved Budtz as the pair contested a long ball out of the Palace defence. The Finn rapped the ball into the net but the referee had already blown for a foul on the keeper.

Jody Craddock's overhead kick had the home defence struggling to clear their lines after a Wolves free-kick, before Little went into the book for tripping McAnuff.

McAnuff levelled the scores in the 37th minute when he ran on to a low cross from Kuqi to lash the ball into the back of the net from 12-yards.

Kiraly snatched the ball off McIndoe's foot as the winger ran in on to a Kightly centre and then Clinton Morrison was yellow carded after he had careered into Budtz who had possession of the ball.

But Wolves' task became all the more difficult two minutes before the break when Little was sent-off for a second bookable offence after fouling McAnuff in the centre-circle.

CP In a tactical switch, Mick McCarthy sent on Neill Collins in place of McIndoe.

Half-Time; Palace 2 Wolves 2

Within a minute of the restart, McNamara had to hoof the ball clear after Matt Lawrence's cross has evaded Budtz. Then another Lawrence ball sailed right through the six-yard box with no-one able to get a touch.

Budtz comfortably saved a Soares header and Gary Breen's free-kick was cleared after Watson had fouled Olofinjana.

Bothroyd went into the book for shooting at goal after the referee had whistled for offside then Budtz saved from Leon Cort following a Watson corner with McNamara clearing the loose ball at the expense of a corner.

Stephen Ward replaced Bothroyd in the 64th minute and the Irish striker tested Kiraly with a shot on the turn from 20-yards shortly afterwards.

Loud crowd appeals for a penalty were rejected by the referee as Collins took a McAnuff shot in his midriff before clearing.

In the closing stages, former Molineux midfielder Mark Kennedy came on for McAnuff whilst, for Wolves, Mark Davies replaced Kightly.

Shortly before the end, Craddock was harshly penalised for a foul on Jamie Scowcroft on the edge of the box but Kennedy's free-kick went over the bar.

The ten men held on in the three minutes of added time to claim a fully deserved CPpoint.
