Wolves 2 (Kightly 5, Ward 40)
Burnley 1 (McCann 53)
Wolves cruised into a 2-0 interval lead against Burnley but then had to withstand some nervy moments in the closing stages before claiming their first back to back victory since October.
There were no changes to the starting line-up but Jody Craddock returned from his injury lay-off to take a place on the bench.
The Burnley team included former Wolves striker Ade Akinbiyi and midfielder Joey Gudjonsson along with James O'Connor, the brother of Molineux youngster Kevin.
Wolves kicked-off attacking the South Bank end on an overcast but dry afternoon.
An early Gudjonsson corner was cleared by Stephen Ward before Wolves moved into a fifth minute lead when Jackie Mcnamara's centre was met by Michael Kightly who dispatched a header into the net with both power and precision.
Then Darren Potter's volley from 30-yards flew into the arms of Burnley keeper
Danny Coyne as Wolves kept up the pressure.
There was a chance for Akinbiyi when he collected a cross from Steve Jones but Rob Edwards spotted the danger and nipped in to clear before any damage could be done.
Michael McIndoe's shot lacked the power to trouble Burnley keeper Coyne after Ward had cushioned back a centre from Andy Keogh then Kightly met a right-wing cross from McIndoe with a first time close range shot that was smothered by Coyne.
Gudjonsson was booked for tripping Keogh who had a goalbound shot blocked shortly afterwards following a build up involving McIndoe and Seyi Olofinjana.
Jones went on a run from the centre-circle but Matt Murray easily dealt with the striker's 20-yard drive and then, five minutes before the break, Coyne saved a Keogh header on the line after a cross from McIndoe.
Seconds later Wolves went two up through Ward. Kightly's run was halted by Michael Duff's tackle but the ball broke to Ward who ran into the box before toe poking a shot past Coyne (top picture).
In the dying seconds of the half a well struck shot from Kightly was deflected behind for an unproductive corner.
Half-Time: Wolves 2 Burnley 0
The visitors made two changes at the start of the new half with Chris McCann and Kyle Lafferty replacing Jones and Gudjonsson respectively.
Andy Gray headed wide from Duff's cross before Burnley reduced the arrears in the 53rd minute when McCann drilled a low shot into the bottom corner after the ball had bounced to him off Akinbiyi.
The referee didn't win any friends among the home fans when he failed to apply the advantage rule following a foul on Ward with McIndoe clean though on goal. Kightly's free-kick hit the wall and bounced clear.
Kightly, who was suffering from a hip injury, was replaced by Craddock on the hour mark and, within a few seconds of the switch, Lafferty shot into the side netting from a tight angle.
McIndoe cleverly beat Duff on the by-line to the left of the Burnley goal but was then hauled down by the defender who was booked.
Jay Bothroyd's header from an Edward's free-kick drifted wide and Ward was off target with a header from Olofinjana's short cross.
In the 87th minute Burnley were denied by the woodwork when Steven Caldwell's header smacked against the bar following a corner from Wade Elliott.
