It was a frustrating afternoon for Wolves and their supporters as the clash with Midland rivals Leicester City petered out into a goalless stalemate.
There were four changes to the team that had lost to Millwall with Rob Edwards, George Ndah, Seyi Olofinjana and Colin Cameron coming in for Gabor Gyepes, Rohan Ricketts, Seol and the injured Darren Anderton.
Wolves kicked-off attacking the North Bank end but there was little to inspire the crowd in the opening minutes with the only real threat coming from Leicester's Alan Maybury who blazed high over the bar from 20-yards.
Jackie McNamara's late tackle on Nils-Eric Johansson earned the Scot an eighth minute booking and seconds later Patrick Kisnorbo was rebuked by the referee after a foul on Lee Naylor.
Mark de Vries must have thought he had given City the lead in the 13th minute when he connected with Momo Sylla's low cross but to the relief of the home fans Edwards managed to deflect the ball behind.
The half was at its midway point when Wolves finally had the City defence at full stretch. Naylor fired a free-kick into the area and Joleon Lescott
headed across the face of goal to Carl Cort whose powerful header flashed wide of the far post.
Then it was City's turn to go close following a free-kick. Dion Dublin's long kick found Sylla who crossed for De Vries who shot narrowly wide from just outside the area.
Rob Douglas was at full stretch to claim a header from Edwards after another Naylor free-kick and then the former Celtic keeper turned behind an angled effort from Leon Clarke to give Wolves their first corner of the game four minutes before the break.
The flag kick came to nothing but Ndah nearly broke the deadlock when he cut inside Johansson in the City box but the striker's final shot flew wide.

Mark Kennedy's 30-yard drive carried plenty of power but the ball went straight into the arms of Douglas before Patrick McCarthy committed one foul too many, by upending Ndah, and he went into the book.
Douglas, under pressure, did well to palm away Lescott's header following a Naylor free-kick, then Michael Oakes made an excellent save to tip away a terrific strike from one time Molineux midfielder Joey Gudjonsson.
Johansson was yellow carded shortly afterwards for a foul on Ndah and then Douglas made a fine save to keep out a well struck long-range effort from Naylor.
There were loud cheers for Vio Ganea when he came on as a substitute for Clarke. It was the Romanian's first League action for almost 18 months and he was soon followed on to the pitch by Mark Davies who took the place of Cameron.
Gudjonsson was booked for dissent as Wolves went in search of a winning goal and it nearly arrived ten minutes from the end.
Kennedy threaded a pass through to Ganea who sprinted clear but he dragged his shot from the left of goal a couple of feet wide of the far post (see top picture).
With time running out, Edwards almost did the trick with an overhead kick after Lescott had headed the ball on to him. But, with Douglas beaten, the ball went the wrong side of the post.
