Sheffield United lost their place at the top of the Championship table but Neil Warnock's men appeared to be satisfied with the point they took from a goalless draw with Wolves. It was a disappointing contest of few chances, which failed to live up to pre-match expectations.
United kicked-off attacking the North Bank end against a Wolves team that had just one change from the side that had beaten Derby County with George Ndah coming in for Leon Clarke.
With just over a minute gone Phil Jagielka received a lecture from the referee after clattering into the back of Vio Ganea.
Stefan Postma beat away a shot from Neil Shipperley following Alan Quinn's free-kick whilst crosses from Lee Naylor and Mark Kennedy kept the Blades defenders on their toes at the other end.
Four Naylor corners were cleared before, in the 16th minute, Postma dived low to save an angled shot from Keith Gillespie who had run onto a pass from Shipperley.
Michael Tonge was booked after a scything tackle on Tom Huddlestone, and after Rob Edwards' cross was half cleared it was Huddlestone whose goalbound shot hit a defender and bounced to safety.
Chances were scarce but Huddlestone had the crowd on its feet with a 30-yard strike that flew over the bar.
Both midfields were cancelling each other out and the two defences were well organised and giving little away.
Shortly before the interval Quinn screwed a shot from outside the area horribly wide as the half ended in stalemate.

Within three minutes of the restart, Ndah went into the book after a late challenge on Jagielka. Wolves piled on the pressure in the opening minutes but there was still no way through the visitors' defence.
With 63 minutes gone a Quinn corner was headed out to Derek Geary whose first time shot flashed wide although Postma appeared to have the ball covered.
Tonge was lucky to escape with a talking to after a blatant dive outside the Wolves box. The referee waved play on and Huddlestone found Colin Cameron who slipped the ball into the path of Ganea.
The Romanian took a couple paces before hitting a 20-yard shot that went into the side netting. The referee then went back to have a word with Tonge who had already been booked.
Tonge then ballooned a shot from distance over the bar before Glenn Hoddle made a triple substitution with Gabor Gyepes coming on for Edwards, Clarke for Ndah and Darren Anderton for Cameron.
Gillespie tested Postma with a low 25-yard drive and then Kennedy came to the rescue with a great saving tackle after Nick Montgomery had jinked his way into the home area and was about to shoot.
Seol was yellow carded for fouling Geary and shortly afterwards he was joined in the book by Clarke who had pulled back Jagielka on the halfway line.
United made their first change with four minutes remaining when Vincent Pericard replaced Shipperley and in stoppage time, after Naylor had received treatment for a head injury, Paul Ifill was sent on in place of Danny Webber.
Ganea's half hit shot on the turn was easily taken by Paddy Kenny following Naylor's centre and an Anderton free-kick was cleared as Wolves fought to no avail to try and find a way through.
