Former Premiership legends Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier last night entertained a packed Hayward Suite for the club's first 1877 dinner of the New Year.

Over 300 guests were treated to a fantastic evening's entertainment from the duo who now regularly star on the popular Sky Sports show 'Soccer Saturday'.

Former Arsenal and Aston Villa star Merson gave a painfully detailed account of his rollercoaster life on and off the field whilst mixing it with humorous stories from his life in the top flight of English football.

Southampton hero Le Tissier also didn't disappoint, with a number of biting - yet amusing - stabs at former England manager's who ignored his undoubted talents over the years!

Meanwhile Le Tissier - speaking exclusively to the official website - admitted he doesn't miss playing competitive football anymore as he fills his life with media work and after dinner speaking.

"People ask me if I miss playing (football) and I have to answer - no!" he admitted. "It's great to wake up in the morning without any aches and pains!

"I'm really enjoying life working on television and on the after dinner circuit. Merse [Paul Merson] and I were paired up and things have gone really well for us and we get along together well."

Le Tissier also revealed last night's visit was surprisingly only the second time he'd been to Molineux.

"It's a great stadium and set up here at Molineux. Strangely enough I only played here once and that was in a pre-season friendly. I've never played here in a competitive fixture.

"I know Bully and Andy Thompson quite well from when they come over to La Manga to play golf."

The evening was rounded with an excellent performance from local comedian Lee Wilson.

Wolves Aid - the club's chosen charity for the evening - will also receive a sizeable donation from the club from the proceeds of the raffle and auction.
