Cash For The Elders
Wolves chairman Steve Morgan took time out before today's board meeting to present a cheque for £4,550 to members of the Wolves Elders Club.
The money was given from the Awards for All National Lottery fund.
The Elders group was formed 15 years ago and currently has 110 members aged from 55 to 95. They meet every Wednesday in the Terrace Bar at Molineux Stadium, from 10.30am to 3pm.
Membership is free and activities include bowls, line and sequence dancing, bingo, card games and day outings.
The money received this afternoon will be used to purchase new equipment such as a PA system, indoor bowling mats and a bingo machine. Also, the Elders are planning a number of day trips to seaside resorts and visitor centres throughout the country.
A proportion of the funding is earmarked to offer education qualifications such as basic IT training - utilising the Study Centre at Molineux.
Wolves Elders operates under the auspices of the Wolves in the Community department and it elects its own committee who arrange the varied activities programme.
After meeting a few of the members, Steve said: "Wolves has a wonderful track record of working in the community and I'm more than happy to see that continue and enhance it.
"Football clubs should play a pivotal role in the local area."
Anyone interested in joining the Wolves Elders Club can come along to any meeting for a chat.
